What is DTST ? DTST = Disk Tester Stress Test. It is a 30 minute stress-test where the disk is placed with ventilation in a constant random read/write situation. The disk is deemed to have failed DTST when the disk stops responding until manual intervention is required. What is DTTT ? DTTT = Dist Tester Torture Test. It is a 24-hour test where the disk is placed without ventilation in a constant random read/write situation next to other drives to provide a worse-case scenario. The disk is deemed to have failed DTTT when the disk stops responding for more than 30 seconds or represents signs of weakness (such as but not limited to difficulty seeking, buzzing noises, anormal clicking and/or spindowns). Disks that do not pass DTTT are not placed in production even if they do pass DTST.
